All about Lana....

I've been meaning to do a blog about Lana for awhile now --- she is so cute, but she changes so quickly. Here are some highlights of Lana over the past few months.

She loves to swim and when she hears we are going to the condo or the beach, she runs to get her "sim sue (swim suit)" and insists on wearing it, even if it is awhile before we leave.

She loves to wear "shoo shoes" and "sock socks."

She has turned into quite a talker--even an entire sentence once and awhile. But the things she says are adorable. Her siblings love to play with her; they fight for her attention and loyalty. But she wasn't sure what to do when they put a Jackson chameleon on her.

She is fun to just watch, especially when she is dancing or singing. She has loved music since she was tiny, and now she loves to sing as well--and she is always right on key. Her favorite songs are "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" which she calls "uppa bov" (for the line in the song "up above the world...," and "Sunbeams." She also loves to dance, but she likes an audience. She will go to each person sitting on the couch and say "watch, watch," and only when she has all eyes on her will she begin to twirl or swing her hips back and forth like a hula dancer. I don't even know where she learned that.

She is cute, cute, cute, but a bundle of trouble. This is a picture of the clothes she ruined by smearing vaseline all over her shirt. She loves to color with markers, but she colors all over herself, books, dolls, cupboards, couches and tables --rarely on paper. She also loves to dump things. She will stand on a chair near the computer and one by one dump out the contents of each little drawer stacked up on the desk. First go the pencils, then the paper clips, the pens, the sticky notes which she first pulls apart one by one, the rubber bands etc. etc. Then she goes to the kitchen, climbs on a chair and empties the kitchen drawers of silverware and lids. But she doesn't care to pick up after herself. :-(

Lana can say everyone's names... sort of. She has "Mommy" and "Daddy" down pat, but all her siblings now have nicknames complements of Lana's inability to say some of the letters in English. It took her awhile to come up with names for Jairin and Joelle, however. She couldn't say their names for quite awhile. I would help her say her prayers at night, and we would start at the top and say, "Bless Daddy, bless Mommy, bless Adam, bless Kamri . . . . ." She would repeat each phrase, "Bess Daddy, bess Mommy etc." But when I'd say, "bless Jairin" or "bless Joelle," she would just remain silent until I went on to the next name. Here is what she calls each brother/sister.

Adam -- "Ah-mah"

Kamri -- "Ami"

Jairin -- "Je - mah"

Miri -- "Mimi"

Caroline -- "Kah - mone"

Aria -- "Ah -ya" and

Joelle -- "Ga - belle" (this is my favorite interpretation. I don't know how she came up with this, but now we all call Joelle, Gabelle.) She doesn't like to do anything unless Gabelle will do it with her. She always wants Gabelle to have part of anything she is eating. We often hear her say, "Gabelle too."

She loves to climb onto Kamri's bed, but she gets so comfortable that she often falls asleep there. That's what happened here. She is in her favorite Sunday dress. She chooses this dress almost every week because she likes how it twirls. She says, "pitty dess (pretty dress)" and twirls around.

We can tell she is one of many children because there are several phrases she uses often including "hush," "meanie," "my first, " "jus minute" and "because." If something is hers, she sometimes says, "Mees" instead of "mine."
Here is a conversation she has had with me more than once. It is always a variation of this:

Lana: "Cacker (cracker), Mommy, pease (please)."
Mommy: "Not right now."
Lana: "Why? cuss? ('cause)"
Mommy: "Yep, 'cause."
Lana: "Meanie."

She has seen so many birthdays in past couple of months (six to be exact), that she is really ready for her very own "Happy tutu" which is what she calls birthdays after hearing the phrase "happy birthday to you" so many times. She knows which day on the calendar is her "Happy tutu," which she points at and says, "My happy tutu."

Whenever I say, "Are you Mommy's girl?" she says, "Happy girl." And she is a very happy girl. We broaden this to say, "Are you a _____________(sad, silly, good, funny) girl?" She always answers, "No, happy girl."

She loves Baby Einstein movies, but she calls them "Baby On - kon." I don't know how she came up with that word, but she has called them this for months and hasn't changed even though she speaks quite well now. Her favorites are "Baby Bach, Baby Santa and Baby Shapes." She loves to sit on the couch with a pillow, a blanket, her water and her baby to watch her movies.

She watches the girls jump rope all the time. We find her walking through the house chanting "bubble gum, bubble gum, in a dish" over and over. Once, I was trying to get her to sleep, but she just kept chanting this over and over for about 20 min.

Whenever someone locks her out of a room, she runs to the kitchen saying "key, key," and then she gets a toothpick out of the drawer. She has seen her siblings open locked doors with toothpicks, so she thinks they are keys.

She is all girl. She will only wear a dess (dress) every single day, and she loves her babies and her "Pooh Bah" (Pooh Bear).

She also loves to sit on her little stool. She carries it around the house and if anyone else tries to use it, she tries to push them off while hollering,"Mine."

I almost forgot "angry eyes." When we say "angry eyes," she makes this face. But she always smiles and laughs after.

Lana makes us all happy every day. She is a joy to have in our family.
